Friday was a busy day. All of our windows were delivered, so I took the day off to install them. They went very smooth except that the framers made the rough openings for all the second floor windows 1/2" too small. With a quick phone call they had someone there to fix all the wrong openings within 15 minutes. It is a good thing too since the temps this week are not expected to get out of the 20s. I finished setting all the windows on Saturday and got the patio and front doors installed. On Friday the well contractor showed up and drilled our well. We have all the utilities to the house now except for the septic which should be in the next few weeks. I am hoping to get a good start on all the mechanical systems this coming week. Today I plan on installing the stairs to the second floor which were also delivered on Friday.

Busy Week

This has been a very busy week for house building. The framing work is finally completed, the shingles have been put up, our windows and doors have been delivered. ComEd and Nicor both came out and have run utilities to our house. Next week the well guy wants to drill the well. Andrew is taking Friday off to install the windows and doors (Alyssa's gonna try to help, or just stay out of the way) Still moving along just like we want to.

The Roof is on fire!!!

Ok, well not really, but it could be because now we have a roof! Things have moved along like we expected them to this week. The framers finished putting up the remaining trusses, gables and sheeted the roof. They work REALLY fast! Come Monday, the shingles will be delivered and then Tuesday they will be installed. It's looking and feeling like a real house. Oh, we also received our front door and garage entry door this past Friday. We should have all our windows by this coming Friday and then Andrew will install them over the weekend. We are predicting that we will have power sometime this week. If our psychic skills are working properly, we think ComEd was having our lot "JULIE" this last Friday.

Icky Day

Today, I went out to check on the house and try to get some more updated pictures of it. They are moving along, and the framing is still set to be finished tomorrow. Just 2 days later than we originally thought.....damn snow! Monday they will drop off the shingles and then shingle the roof on Tuesday. Hopefully, the weather will hold out for the next week or so. I really want the windows and doors to go in. It's really cold out there, especially with the wind blowing!

The Blog

Well, I think that I am finally kind of happy with the way the blog looks. I am very excited to be putting this website together for our friends and family to check in with us. Andrew and I have been very busy with the building of our house along with a slew of social activities mixed in.

We are headed to the Pulte Party in the city on Friday and then to the Boat and RV show on Saturday at McCormick Place. It will be fun to look at all the new boats and RVs. I'm sure it will get us all excited about the next boating season.

We will have more house pictures by the end of the week as well.
