The Great Pumpkin Story

We have a pretty pathetic story for picking out Emma's first pumpkin. Unlike most people who go to a farm with cute hayrides and a whole field of pumpkins to choose from, we decided to take a different approach, we didn't want all the "fluff". So we decided that since we are out in "hillbilly land" that we should live like the hillbillies and head to the Meca to get our pumpkins. I'm sure you're wondering where the Meca is.....you city folk call it Walmart. Yes, we took our daughter to Walmart to pick out her very first pumpkin. You may think it sounds trashy, and it was. However, we got a hell of a deal on our pumpkins (2.50 each!, that's a steal!) and of course because it was so trashy I just had to take pictures (I think that makes me even more trashy).

Not that this is Emma's first bath or anything, but these are the first pictures I have taken of her getting a bath. Usually I'm busy helping bathe her but this time I let Andrew do all the work :) Emma is a pretty good bath taker, she doesn't cry too much, unless she gets cold.

Last weekend we went with Graham, Kristy and Payton to visit my grandparents. Emma traveled very well. She slept the whole way except when we stopped to eat Maid Rites, she thought it was only natural that she got to eat too. The Maid Rites and Whitey's ice cream were awesome as always. I'm still craving another pumpkin shake. I think I'm going to have to stop by Oberweis and get another one!

Emma is growing like crazy! She is just about out of her premie clothes and into the newborn size, which gives me some more clothing options. I went to the outlet mall last week and picked up her Halloween costume, she's going to be a monkey. She is still a little too small for it, but that makes it look even cuter on her. I think today we are going to get a pumpkin, since we are running out of time. We also think Emma's eyes are starting to change and it looks like right now they are lightening up. I'm not sure if they are going to be blue, but I really don't think they are going to be brown. However, in her left eye she has a section around the bottom of the colored part of the eye that is brown and has been like that since she was born. I'm anxious to see what color those eyes are going to end up being.

We have been very busy here in the Chudzick house. We started our busy streak with a baseball game. We were lucky enough to get tickets to the Cubs division playoff game, it was a lot of fun, even though they lost and it was a great opportunity to get out just the two of us for an evening. Then we took Emma for her first boat ride that Sunday the 7th (Emma's 1 month birthday), and probably our last boat ride of the year. She did very well and slept almost the whole time. It was pretty hot out that day so we just had her in her diaper the whole time.

This past week I took Emma for her 1 month pictures on Wednesday, we went to Graham and Kristy's for dinner on Tuesday, we had our good friends Joe and Jill over for dinner on Friday, Saturday we stayed in and watched a TERRIBLE movie, Borat. We didn't even finish it, it was so horrible!

This coming weekend we are headed to Iowa to see all my grandparents and to eat Maid Rites (which are sooo awesome!).

I have big day planned cheering for the Cubbies at Grandma and Grandpa's while mom and dad go to game 3 of the NLDS. Lets go Cubs!!!
